Fall Out Boy Aren’t Really A Band - More Of A Mental Disorder
This is Fall Out Boy. They are all the rage with all of the young emos these days. I’ve been asked by my readers why I dislike the band. Well the truth is I don’t. I think they are hilarious. Look at the picture below for Gods sake.
They are serious musicians. Now for a little background on the band in case you are wondering who they are. Fall Out Boy originated from a sex store in Chicago and were founded by bassist and part-time transvestite Peter Wentz. Peter, like all red blooded males enjoys sexual experimentation. One night when he was closing up the store he decided to “slip one into” a dummy in the store front. This was his fatal mistake for little did he know that his boss was watching him from behind a display cabinet. He was dismissed immediately.
After this somewhat embarrassing incident, Peter became increasingly bitter towards the world, eventually deciding to form the band. He chose the name Fall Out Boy not in reference to the Simpsons character but as a quiet nod to his risque encounter with the dummy back in the sex shop.
Recruiting the members was pretty easy, he simply cruised around a red-light-district in Chicago, picking up only the seediest looking members on the sidewalk.
None of his new recruits could play their instruments which wasn’t much of a problem considering 99% of the bands target market are either deaf or women.
Since then, Peter has spent too long trying to cut himself with everything from toothbrushes to soda cans and not long enough on writing songs. But his fan’s don’t care. Most of them would love it if he just stood there for an hour and a half smashing his guitar off his head until it was in matchsticks. In fact if you’ve listened to ‘Infinity on High’ at all you’ll have realized that the band have used this technique to record all of their songs.
Now I don’t mind Fall Out Boy’s material. It’s kinda cute. I just don’t like all of this self harm business that goes along with it.. Peter’s in danger of taking this too far and setting fire to his testicles in public or something. This is the last thing we need as a God fearing nation. Can you imagine Fall Out Boy fans across the country trying to replicate this act? Aren’t the fire department busy enough these days? I really don’t wanna see anyone getting hurt.
And that’s the problem with the whole emo scene. It will all end in disaster. Some poor boy will drive his bike into the river in bondage gear, deliberately weighed down by alienation, boredom and despair.
It’s probably best that all Fall Out Boy fans are referred immediately to psychiatrists who, God-willing, will prescribe them all enough Prozac to kill an African elephant. Acknowledging that Fall Out Boy are a serious symptom of an underlying mental illness is the first step into securing the future of Generation Y. Otherwise it will gouge, burn and slit itself until there’s nothing left but Meatloaf.

All I’m saying is that you where a wanna-be gamer once. So you must have failed too because your post on June 24th states that a wanna-be gamer is a failure.
The problem in your statement is that some-one can’t become a gamer. He/she can try and fail or not try at all and fail too (in becoming a gamer). Which leads us to the next problem, how did you became a gamer than? And I’m sure that I left the wanna-be phase behind me, so can you explain that?

i agree with the other guy. but not all fall out boy fans are emo. although the story is pretty funny and FOB are supposedly absolutely shite in concert. its like the only colour pete wentz sees is black. and that must be because of all the eyeliner he wears! cant he tone it down abit? i mean the only reason he is in the band is because for some strange reason the others like him :S he is totally destroying peoples mind by making it seem ok to be arrogant and slit yourself with w/e you can find! i like some of their stuff but i think their emo cries from the band should be silenced. one head at a time.

um… actually they are a great band and the four boys were like family friends known each other for ages.. so they formed a band. The name of the band was actually picked when at their first concert they asked what they should call the band.. someone from the crowd shouted out “fall out boy” they all liked it so they chose that to be the name of the band.
also fall out boy aren’t at all emo, as much as i love them check out AFI or parkway drive. you may as well call Good Charlotte emo.

In defence of the author (who I’m sure is probably as amused as I am), yes, the article is completely fictional - that’s the point. I’m assuming that it was written for the sheer sake of satirical humour, not necessarily to offend every F.O.B. fan out there (at least, that’s my speculation).
Bisexuality doesn’t exist? Is it not possible for a person to be attracted to both sexes? Bisexuality may not be some sort of genetic thing, but it definately exists. I would almost go as far as saying that true heterosexuality doesn’t exist - everyone is bisexual, just in different percentages. After all, haven’t most people at least WONDERED about what it would be like to have sex with someone of the same gender? Of course, that’s just an opinion (and don’t bother going “omg, that’s so stupid, you’re totally wrong!” because I just stated that it was an opinion, one I specifically threw in to mess with your minds).
Then of course, there are the people that defend homosexual people and those who are emo, and then start casually making comments about bi-polar disorder. I just think it’s funny that there’s all this hype about being politically correct and understanding that gay people aren’t bad and emo doesn’t mean a person cuts himself yet those same people don’t think about what they say in regards to other stereotypes or other sensitive subjects (I’m not going to bet all hurt and defensive, by the way, I’m just pointing out that everyone who is slandering other people are exactly the same as the people they are slandering)
And then, of course, there are the people that are telling the author to go to hell, and to get a life. I mentioned before, that in all probability, the author wrote the article for the sake of SATIRICAL HUMOUR - the author most likely does not take this seriously. So why are other people taking this seriously, and expending their time and effort in defense of this “wonderful band”, arguing that this band is the best thing to walk the earth, when that in itself is ignorance? Freedom of Speech…it means that anyone has the right to express his or her opinion, including the author of this article. Has it ever occured to you to just go to another site if you don’t like the content of the one you’re currently visiting? Has it also ever occured to you that you yourselves have probably made satirical humour about something you didn’t like?
Also, just as a comment on the statement that F.O.B. is the greatest thing to ever happen to music…if you truly believe this then you are obviously very, very sheltered. I’m not saying that F.O.B. is really terrible, but the lyrics (of their most popular songs, anyway, such as “Thanks for the Memories”) aren’t exactly epic and sweeping, or even remotely deep and thoughtful. Nor is the music overly astounding and intricate - in fact, it would probably be more commonplace and, dare I say, mainstream. Of course, let me reinforce this statement: It is just my OPINION. I just think that in order for a person to hold the opinion that F.O.B. is the best thing ever and anyone apposed to them should go to hell, that person should broaden their horizons a bit and take a look at some of the real masters of music, such as Led Zeppelin, which has incredibly beautiful and often intricate guitar, or Jim Morrison, for his amazing way with poetry and words.
Lastly, I just want to have my fair say on the whole “emo” thing. I’m not necessarily against emos (although, I’ll admit, I’ll make fun of them sometimes), I’m merely against the emo sort of perspective that is basically along the lines of “omg, life sucks, the world is against me.” Anyone who truly, truly believes that the world is against them is obviously very self centered; the world itself has better things to do than focus all of its energies into making your life miserable. I may be only twelve year old girl, and I may be a big fan of
Fall Out Boy, but I have news for you. So shut up and listen.
The term ‘Emo’, described by wikipedia, is defined as:
An individual or group of people associated with the subculture and musical style of uncountable definition
This has NOTHING to do with hairstyles, wrist slitting or the stereotypical term of Emo, it is simply a way of life that some people wish to chose to live by. And while I’m at it, I will also mention the fact that it is RACIST to bag out emos. Your about as worse as someone bagging out other races, say African Americans. It is stupid and unfair.

“Fall Out Boy was formed in early 2001 by friends Joe Trohman and Pete Wentz. The two had played in various bands in the Chicago area. They decided they wanted to start a band that was more similar to bands they listened to growing up such as Green Day, Descendents, and The Smiths.Trohman met high schooler Patrick Stump in a Borders Bookstore.Trohman introduced himself to Stump when he overheard him talking about the band Neurosis, in which they shared a mutual interest.Stump auditioned as a drummer, but as soon as his vocal range was discovered, he became the lead singer. Two other Chicago musicians were recruited; T.J. Raccine on guitar and a drummer simply credited as Mike.The following year, the band debuted with a self-released demo and followed it up with the May 28, 2002 release of Split EP, which featured Project Rocket, on Uprising Records. The group released a mini-LP, Fall Out Boy’s Evening Out with Your Girlfriend, on Uprising Records, in 2003.
The band was nameless for their first two shows. At the end of their second show, they asked the audience to yell out their ideas for a name. One audience member suggested “Fallout Boy,”a reference to the sidekick of the Simpsons cartoon character Radioactive Man.”
So, to conclude, Fall Out Boy are not bad in any way, shape, or form. To be honest I just think you’re paying out Fall Out Boy, and the stereotypical term of ‘Emo’, because you have nothing better to do with your time. You can’t argue with that!!!

I don’t honestly know which is funnier - the article or the response. I am a huge Fall Out Boy fan, I have every single one of their songs, I have seen them in concert and I loved it. I consider myself partly “emo”, partly “goth” and maybe even part “punk”. I don’t slit or think about death more than the next person. Well I’m a big enough fan to know that Pete himself has admitted in an interview that the band are rock music’s “whipping boys”, people love to hate them. And guess what - he just doesn’t care.
A few points - Shez - Wikipedia is over half opinion. Patrick has mentioned his profile in an interview, where the person who made it managed to get his favourite music completely wrong. So whoever wrote it should have either bothered to find out, or not mentioned it at all.
FOB Rocks my jocks - Panic at the Disco are not “emo”, at least not anymore. Have you heard their new album? Some of the happiest songs in my collection, and I have 3 Shania Twain CDs. Strange though, most people who like one of those bands tend to like the other, with all the links between them.
If I was into that kind of stuff, I might quote one of their songs and tell anybody who doesn’t like Fall Out Boy to “stop burning bridges and drive off them”, but I’m not.

I know the article is fake - if you are a real fan, you would be used to people hating your music taste and get over it. I did a very long time ago, and it never stopped me from liking them.
